Dear Editor, RECENTLY, I took a taxi from Mutiara Damansara to Bangsar to pick up my sister from school.

To my horror, the taxi driver told me that I had to pay a flat rate of RM15 because he was finding it hard to get passengers.

I was also told that the extra charge was for his return to Mutiara Damansara because he would not be picking up any passengers.

What choice did I have? I had to take the cab because my sister was in distress at school.

I was also made to pay the toll charges by the cab driver.

A normal trip to my sister’s school would normally cost RM11, including the toll charges.

I hope the authorities will discipline taxi drivers for the benefit of wage earners.
