Dubai: A mother said she chased a driver, who is on trial for attempting to kidnap her twins after he sped off with his taxi as she was getting out, heard a court yesterday.

"I don't know what he was thinking, but his intentions were unknown. I was still getting out of the taxi and had one leg out and the other was still inside, when he unexpectedly drove off dangerously speeding. He could have killed my twin children … or me," the 26-year-old Syrian mother testified before the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday.

The Public Prosecution charged the 25-year-old Pakistani driver, G.S., with attempting to kidnap the two children as he sped off while the mother was still leaning inside the vehicle to take her children out.

He was also charged with endangering the lives of the mother and her children.
