Jalandoni said he picked her up without asking and immediately brought her to the hospital after hearing from the traumatized student the rape attempt.

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is waiting for Dian's statement to ascertain the identity a taxi driver and his male passenger who connived in trying to rape Dian.

Jalandoni, who had a short conversation with Dian, said that the lady came from SM Delgado and rode in the suspect's taxi at around 7:30 p.m. She instructed the driver to fetch her home at Villa Matilde in Jaro but after a few meters, the driver picked up the male suspect, who appeared as his passenger.

It surprised Dian as she has assumed that she would be driven home alone, as she had occupied the taxi as per settlement with the driver.

It roused her suspicion when the driver directed to a dark and grassy area in the coastal site of Barangay Balabag, Jaro instead of heading to Villa Matilde.

Her instinct indeed did not fail her when the male passenger tried to touch and strip off her clothes but was able to escape after fighting hard.

Jalandoni said Dian did not know the name of the taxi nor its plate number as well as the identity of the driver and that of the male passenger.

ICPO Director Wesley Barayuga said the traumatized student is still in the hospital and could not yet give the exact details of the incident.

The ICPO considered the statement of Dian as the sole material to the identification and hunting of the suspects.
