JOHOR BARU: Three robbers robbed a 54-year-old taxi driver and left a crude message for the police.

They scratched polis bodoh (stupid police) at the back of the taxi. Police discovered it after the taxi was towed to the police station.

The taxi driver had about 9pm on Thursday picked up “three passengers” at a bus stop in Jalan Wong Ah Fook here.

When they reached a secluded place in Gelang Patah, one of the passengers told the taxi driver to pull over.

Suddenly, one of the robbers whisked out a knife and forced the victim to the back seat while another drove the taxi to a palm oil estate in Kangkar Pulai.

The robbers then took the taxi driver’s valuables before cutting the vehicle’s safety belt and tying him up with it.

They then locked him in the vehicle’s boot before fleeing with the victim’s mobile phone, ATM cards and RM30.

After about 20 minutes, the victim managed to free himself and called the police from a nearby restaurant.

Johor Baru (North) OCPD Asst Comm Ruslan Hassan confirmed the incident and stated that the robbers' message was a challenge to the police force.

“We will increase our efforts to track down these suspects. Any crime is a direct challenge to us,” he said, adding that this was the first time he had encountered such an incident.

He urged anyone with information on the robbery to contact the police hotline at 07-221 2999 or the nearest police station.
