The Bureau of Immigration (BI) detained a Korean who attacked a taxi driver and a policeman in Davao City, recently, officials reported yesterday.

BI Commissioner Marcelino Libanan ordered the arrest of the Korean, Bet Maru Hahn, 26, after Davao City Mayor Duterte asked the bureau to investigate the immigration status of the "violent" alien.

Libanan said Hahn is now detained at the Bicutan immigration jail and will undergo deportation proceedings for being an undesirable and overstaying alien.

The BI chief bared that the Korean had been overstaying in the country for three months at the time of his arrest.

Police filed charges of resisting arrest and disobedience to a person in authority against Hahn for trying to assault a cop who arrested him for attacking a taxi driver named Juanito Libre last Sept. 11.

The BI found out that Hahn arrived in the country last Dec. 15 and had his stay extended only up to April 12 this year, thus making him an overstaying alien.
