Oro mayor lauds another honest taxi driver
Cagayan de Oro City (11 June) — City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula recently lauded another taxi driver for his honesty in returning a valuable item left in the taxi unit he was driving.
Mayor Jaraula personally witnessed the turning over of a cellular phone worth P18,000 by taxi driver Jonathan Pailagao of Ever Taxi to its owner, Brenjo Foronda and his mother Brenda Foronda.
Mayor Jaraula thanked Pailagao for exemplifying the laudable virtue of honesty that is worth emulating by other residents in the city.
The city chief executive likewise called on all taxi operators to promote the same brand of discipline and character among their taxi drivers.
He said that having honest taxi drivers will certainly boost the image of Cagayan de Oro as a safe haven not only for its people but also for the tourists who will visit the city.
It is noteworthy that Pailagao's father, also a taxi driver, was also lauded by Mayor Jaraula a few months ago for the same virtue of honesty he exhibited by returning another cellular phone left inside the unit he was driving.
Pailagao's father, Regalado Pailagao, Jr. will be among the few personalities who will be recognized as model Cagayanons in a simple ceremony highlighting the celebration of the 58th City Charter Day on June 13, 2008.
